FULL CALF LEATHER boards with five raised bands, gilt dec. compartments and titles. 205 x 140 mm approx. Gilt crest to front panel in gilt double ruled borders and gilt roll decs to edges of boards, blind dec. dentelles and marbled edges to book block matching the end papers. Sewn head and tailbands, (xxiv) + 406 pp + fold out chart. Frontis b/w portrait + all other illustrations as called for being b/w photos, charts, maps line drawings and plans. Account of the 10 week war with Spain in 1898 compiled from official documents and officers accounts published in periodicals which arose from US intervention in the Cuban war of independence and led to the ceding of ownership of Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippine Islands to the US in the Treaty of Paris. A relatively uncommon book in a very handsome full leather binding. VG (Book- leather a little rubbed at extremities , previous owner name and dates in ink to preliminary blank which together with the rear blanks have some mild foxing. Binding sound).
